About Kampala High School
Kampala High School has a long and resilient history that reflects the story of Uganda itself one of perseverance, transformation, and renewed purpose. Originally founded under the management of the Aga Khan community, the school quickly grew into a respected institution known for discipline, academic excellence, and strong moral values. It served as a place where students from diverse backgrounds came together to receive quality education and prepare for meaningful futures. However, the school’s journey has not been without challenges. Following the expulsion of Asians in the early 1970s and the political and economic instability that followed, Kampala High School experienced difficult years. Facilities deteriorated, enrollment declined, and the school faced uncertainty about its future. These turbulent times left the institution deeply affected, but they also revealed its enduring strength. From those difficult years, Kampala High School began a remarkable journey of rebuilding. Thanks to the unwavering efforts of many Ministry of Education and Sports, the founding body, former Boards of Governors, PTA, old students, donors, Kampala Capital City Authority, dedicated parents, committed teachers, and determined learners the school slowly regained its footing. Their collective support, sacrifices, and belief in the school’s mission helped restore stability, renew hope, and set Kampala High School back on the path to excellence. Today, centrally located in Kampala with a wide catchment area, the school continues to attract learners from all walks of life, including many who need guidance, mentorship, and strong counseling support. True to its values, Kampala High School remains committed to nurturing every learner through discipline, teamwork, loyalty, integrity, and strong character formation. These principles have helped the school regain its reputation as one of Uganda’s pioneer and traditional institutions that have produced countless professionals across all sectors of the country. While the school celebrates significant progress, it continues to look toward the future with determination. Key infrastructure such as a mosque, library, and main hall remain essential goals in the school’s mission to fully restore its former glory. With the momentum already achieved and the community’s continued support, Kampala High School is confidently rebuilding its legacy. Read more
